A 2.5-acre, off-leash dog recreation area could open in DuSable Park by mid-June under a new plan discussed Tuesday night by the St. Charles City Council.

KENT COUNTY -- Matt Pepper says it's OK to call him a dog catcher. But the animal control officer supervisor at the Kent County Animal Shelter said those in his field wear many hats: detective, interviewer and impromptu veterinarian.

The last class of 2005 has completed the core curriculum and picked its majors -- sniffing for drugs, dollars, people, explosives, chemicals or agricultural produce.
